MESSAGE

Four years ago autism was a word that we knew very little about, but then our life was forever changed when our son, Carson was diagnosed with this neurological developmental disability. At first, we were paralyzed by a host of emotions---anger, sadness, confusion, helplessness. The discovery of autism interrupted traditional childhood milestones and life goals for our son and the entire family. In that single moment, our dreams for Carson became centered on therapy, research and the intricacies of brain development.

Time has passed and now we have seen first-hand significant strides in Carson’s progress due to proper and early intervention. He is a tremendous young man—loving, sweet and in most respects a “typical 6 year old.” We are certain that with the right resources, diligence and support, that our son will continue to celebrate a rewarding and wonderful life. The Carson Kolzig Foundation is resolute be the vehicle to offer that same hope and encouragement to all families facing the challenges of a child with autism.

To date the Carson Kolzig Foundation has rallied hundreds of supporters throughout the US and Canada to generate over $500,000 in resources for neurological research, education and direct services. Each year as our success grows, so too does our desire to reach more kids and families. We are optimistic you will join in supporting our efforts through your generosity and support.

Autism is the fastest growing disability in the United States; statistics say that a child is diagnosed with autism every 21 minutes. This disorder affects 1 in every 150 children and is more prevalent than cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, childhood cancer, deafness or juvenile diabetes. More than a disorder, autism is a national crisis affecting at least one million Americans and costing the country more than $90 billion.

It is no small task, yet we are proud that the Carson Kolzig Foundation is working hard to educate our communities about this disorder, equip and empower families with the necessary tools for success and enhance services that are currently available in our local community.

Autism is an issue that we face 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. We challenge you to be involved in the efforts of the Carson Kolzig Foundation. Together we are offering hope and encouragement for a wonderful life for youth and families challenged by autism.

Olie and Christin Kolzig.
