Olaf Kolzig (born April 6, 1970) is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender who played 14 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Though Kölzig was born in South Africa, he grew up in several cities across Canada.

Olaf Kolzig was idling away the afternoon in front of the television set in a Buffalo hotel room, savoring a rare game day that would not include starting in goal for the Washington Capitals, when a phone call from his wife shattered the placid solitude and changed his life forever.
